Sir: Once again, Quetta became the victim of a brutal terror attack which claimed more than 70 lives and left around 100 people injured. The blast followed the killing of former president of Balochistan Bar Association Bilal Anwar Kasi, killed earlier in the day. Dozens of journalists and lawyers had gathered in the hospital when the body of Mr Kasi was brought in. The mourners gathered in the hospital became the victims of the carnage, and soon the scene became a bloodbath.

Over the past decade, Balochistan has witnessed a number of incidents of terrorism and target killing. Nearly 1,400 incidents, targeting the minority of Shia and Hazara community have taken place in the province. Earlier in January, the polio worker team was attacked which took more than 20 lives.

Then a professor was killed. And now even the hospitals are not safe. After the tragedy, our leaders have expressed grief and promised to help the wounded and families of those killed. The foremost responsibility of the leaders is to ensure the safety of the public. Merely showing grief and distributing cheques will not help the cause. Action should be taken against the miscreants. Our country has seen enough bloodshed.
