ISLAMABAD: A dispute between the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and Ministry of Commerce has been intensified on the import of Polished Granite from India.

According to reliable source that Ministry of Commerce has written a letter to FBR that inquiry should be conducted against the responsible persons who put the polished granite in the negative list. Letter stated that Custom officials have stopped the shipment of polished Granite at Karachi Port coming from India on the plea that it appeared in the negative list. The letter stated that “If polish granite was in the negative list, why the import had been allowed for years”. The ministry asked FBR that why the product was put in the negative list without prior information to importers. “However, if polished granite is not importable from India then with a view to save the exporters from loss, one time clearance might be given as a special case because the shipment is currently lying at Karachi port.
