Imran says Lahore cricket played a huge part in his journey to become a good player

LAHORE: Pakistan-born South African cricketer Imran Tahir has revealed that he regretted the fact that he could not represent Pakistan despite the passion he holds for cricket and the country. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, the spinner credited Lahore cricket in playing a huge part in his journey as a good cricketer. “I am proud to have played cricket in Lahore”, he said. Talking about his decision to play cricket for South Africa, Tahir said that he was grateful for the blessings he had received which had opened doors of opportunity for him. He also credited his wife for supporting him in his journey so far. “Most of the credit for playing for South Africa goes to my wife,” he said. Noting that it would be better if the Pakistan Super League (PSL) champions were decided on the ground, Tahir said that if by any chance, the remaining matches were not played due to the prevailing uncertain circumstances then the top position team on the points table should be declared the winners. Earlier this month, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had opted to put up the remaining PSL 2020 matches, which were called off due to the coronavirus and rain, in Pakistan rather than the United Arab Emirates. The PSL governing council, in its last meeting, had rejected the proposition of staging the remaining four matches in the Arab country.
