KOHAT: The district police booked four people including two women accused of murder of an Indian woman, District Police officer (DPO) Sohaib Maqsood said on Wednesday. The official said that the police found the body of the woman in her house in Kohat Development Authority (KDA) two weeks ago on July 28. He said that the woman had been shot in the head from a point blank range. First the incident was thought to be a case of suicide. He said that the Indian citizen was a Sikh-woman who had reverted to Islam and before contracting love marriage with one Abdul Wahid about 15 years ago. The official said the couple had three children a boy and two girls. The DPO maintained the Indian national after conversion to Islam had also changed her name to Ayesha. Both Abdul Wahid and Ayesha met at Dubai before their marriage, he said, adding that they shifted to Kohat with her husband after getting married. Police checked the mobile-phone data of the slain woman and traced the accused, he said, adding the preliminary investigation suggested that she was murdered for land, gold ornaments and money. The DPO said that husband of the slain woman told the police that one of his relatives, Habibullah, had expelled his wife and three children from the house and had snatched the property. He added that later his wife had filed a case against the accused and a court had decided the case in their favour. He said that the accused was his close relative and alleged that the accused had then planned to kill his wife for property and money. The official said that the police arrested four accused including Habibullah, his brother Shafqat, his wife Aaini and a relative Surayya Bibi in connection with the murder. He said the police also recovered the stolen gold ornaments, cash and a pistol allegedly used in the murder, a rifle and some cartridges from the accused. The DPO announced cash reward and commendation certificates for the investigation team.
