ISLAMABAD: The favorite bureaucrat of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Federal Secretary of Water and Power, Younis Dhagha, has at last won the battle of power against Minister Khawaja Asif and on his recommendations, 87 officers appointed at the Islamabad Electric Supply Company(IESCO) without observing the rules of merit have been fired from service, sources told Daily Times.

Sources said that the former administration of IESCO had appointed 87 officers but against observing the rules of merit and adopted a pick and choose way. Someone approached the National Accountability Bureau and complained against these recruitments and the NAB was still investigating the matter.

The Federal Secretary for Water and Power, Younis Dhagha ,as in charge of the ministry, ordered a ministerial inquiry into the said matter and on the recommendations of the committee he ordered the dismissal of these officers but the IESCO board refused to implement the orders and sources said that the Federal Minister for Water, Khawaja Asif did not want to fire them and stopped the implementation of the secretary’s order, sources said.

On this the secretary approached the law ministry, the establishment division and the PM’s office and at last, after four months, he succeeded in his mission as now the present IESCO board, after seeking the legal view from the concerned departments has fired the 87 officers and sources said that a notification in this regard had also been issued.

On the other hand, the NAB is yet to complete its investigation on the matter and the NAB officers are trying to get solid evidence.
