Afghan ‘spy’ held from Bhara Kahu

ISLAMABAD: An Afghan Intelligence official while attempting to enter into the sensitive area of Bhara Kahu, posing himself to be a mentally deficient person has been apprehended.

The Bhara Kahu Police arrested the Afghan ‘spy’, Gul Mir, 50, while he was trying to enter the Simly Dam area at 2 a.m in the night. He tried to enact a drama of posing himself as a mad man. The Persian speaking Afghan intelligence personnel was shifted to a police station immediately and later he was shifted to some undisclosed location for interrogation.

During the preliminary interrogation, the arrested Afghan intelligence agency personnel tried to pose as a mad person and kept on speaking Persian.

It is pertinent to mention here that no arms or sensitive documents were recovered from him . However police sources said that the information provided by him reflected that he was Afghan intelligence personnel. He hails from the Baghlan area of Afghanistan.

Several Afghan intelligence agency personnel were arrested earlier from different areas of the country including Islamabad. Pakistan has recorded its complaints with the Afghan government on the matter.

A decision has also been taken to conduct a combing operation all over the country following the martyrdom of over 100 citizens in the Quetta carnage some days back. Stringent security measures are being taken. Security has been beefed up in all the sensitive areas. Directives have been issued to the police and the law enforcement agencies in Islamabad and other parts of the country to take stern action against the terrorists.
