Sir: Following the terrible attack in Quetta, which killed at least 75 people and wounded more than 100, Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif went to Quetta to express solidarity with the victims. CM Sharif also inquired about the injured and prayed for their prompt recovery. During the visit, CM Sharif met Chief Minister of Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri, and offered prayers for the martyrs. He also presented a cheque of Rs 75 million for the families of martyrs and those who were injured.
The move certainly calls for applause, but for how long would the leaders console bereaved families? And for how long would we have to face this menace of terrorism? Until and unless we as a nation do not unite to defeat terrorists the chances for peace are rare. Therefore, public at large and government must join hands to fight terrorists. Only that can halt the bloodshed in the country. Mere words will not do anything until they are followed by actions.
