HANGU: The opposition in the district government has claimed that the convenor postponed the council session for an indefinite period as it could not pass the budget.
Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, opposition leader Noor Awaz and other members said that the council meeting was scheduled ‘today’ but the treasury postponed it as they don’t have support to pass the budget.
He said that in the last budget, the district nazim had introduced cuts in the funds of several district members, while some blue-eyed councillors were provided funds in excess of their requirement.
“Even the treasury members were not happy and they would not support the budget,” he claimed.
Another councillor and Awami National Party leader, Abdul Shahid Orakzai, alleged that around Rs 80 million had been misappropriated in the district government.
