ECP releases asset details

Lahore: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) releases asset details of politicians where PM Nawaz Sharif’s assets continued to decline for second consecutive year.

In 2012, PM owned Rs 261.6 million worth of assets but in 2013 it increased to Rs 1.82 billion.

For the first time his assets were crossed the two billion mark in 2014, whereas they declined slightly to Rs 1.96 billion in 2015.

By the past four years, PM Nawaz Sharif received huge remittance from his elder son Hussain Nawaz. He received Rs 197.5 million, Rs 239 million and Rs 215m in 2013, 2014, and 2015 respectively. As per the latest statements, he received Rs 234m in 2016 from his son.

PM has multiple foreign currency accounts, agricultural land and investments in industrial units such as sugar, textile and paper mills. He lives in house owned by his mother.

The Sharif family’s estate in Raiwind is priced at Rs4m, while his property in Lahore’s Upper Mall area is said to be worth over Rs250m.

The asset statement of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan is not different. Khan’s assets increased over the past five years. He owns Rs1.4bn worth of assets. In 2012, he owned assets of Rs22.9m when he also had liabilities worth Rs0.38m

The worth of his assets were Rs 14 million in 2013, which increased to Rs 33.3m in 2014. In the year 2015, he became a billionaire by having assets of worth Rs 1.33bn.

His Bani-gala residence (300-kanal) is Rs750 million of value and is declared as gift with the ECP. The boundary wall of banigala residence is worth Rs6.9 million, whereas the house is priced at Rs5.9 million.

His Lahore’s family house in Zaman park area is declared to be worth of Rs29 million. He has also invested over Rs40 million in various schemes. He owns goats and furniture of worth Rs0.2m and Rs0.6m respectively.

Mr Khan has also joined the club of carless lawmakers, since the statement shows he sold the last vehicle registered in his name in 2016.
