PPL announces commissioning of gas at Gambat

KARACHI: The Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) on Thursday announced start-up and commissioning of second gas processing facility at Gambat South.

In a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), the company said , ‘We would like to disclose start-up and commissioning of the Company’s second gas processing facility from well Sharf X-l, Shahdadpur field at Gambat South’.

The initial sale of 22 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas has commenced, which will gradually be increased to 33 million standard cubic feet per day from 50 million standard cubic feet per day of raw gas during the plant’s performance esting, it added.

‘The plant after reaching its maximum design capacity is expected to produce 500 to 600 barrels per day of condensate and 10 to 2 metric tonnes per day of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in addition to 33 million standard cubic feet per day of sales gas’, said company.

Earlier in 2014, PPL announced discovery of 42 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) of gas in the Gambat South block, its third and biggest discovery so far in the particular area. The company said the exploration well Sharf X-1 was spud on April 18, 2014, and the final depth of 3,730 meters was reached on July 6, 2014.

Along with the gas, condensate with flow of 199 barrels per day had also been discovered, reinforcing the commercial viability of the well, the company said. PPL had awarded Gambat South gas Processing Facility (GPF-II) Project to PDIL on turnkey basis. The proposal was submitted by the consortium of PDIL and Descon.

The scope of the project is Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning of the Plant. Upon completion, this facility shall produce 50 MMSCFD of processed natural gas, 11 mt/day LPG and 1050 barrel /day of Condensate.
