KARACHI: Sindh’s anti-corruption and enquiries department will shortly conduct a series of raids at the educational boards of the province to stop manipulation of results and all other irregularities, it has been learnt.

While talking to Daily Times, Chairman Enquiries and Anti Corruption Establishment (E&ACE) Ghulam Qadir Thebo said the department’s officials raided the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi and found massive manipulation of results by the examination department of the board.

“We just checked the individual computer in board’s examination department and found shocking manipulation by the staff. The main characters of all the manipulation are controller and assistant controller, including Imran Chishti and Dabeer”, Thebo added.

“We detected 94 cases of results’ manipulation in which the candidate who have obtained 27 marks in original copy was given 81 marks in the computer record, while the results of other cases have also been changed in the same way”, the chairman said.

Thebo said allegations regarding delay in results were totally baseless as the anti-corruption team had not checked the data of pre-engineering side during the raid at BIEK, and only results of pre-medical faculty were checked.

“The board’s administration is blackmailing us and using some media persons, however we will continue to carry out our job with same zeal”, he said.

The E&ACE chairman said that the anti corruption will continue its raids at other educations boards in the province too if it receives credible information of irregularities.

“Till Now 94 cases have been identified along with solid evidence at Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK)”. These candidates have either been passed or given ‘A’ and ‘A-1’ grades after manipulating their results which is totally injustice to the meritorious candidates.

Thebo denied the allegations that the raids resulted in delay of announcement of results and said that anti-corruption team had only checked the data of medical students at record room while the result of engineering side was scheduled to be declared on August 12, 2016. He reiterated his commitment towards eradication of the menace of corruption from the society.
