Child bride handed over to notable on court’s order

SHIKARPUR: A five year girl (K) daughter of Papo Aka Zameer, who was married to a 22-year-old man at village Raman Shar in limits of Gaheja Police Station in the outskirts of Dakhan Town has been handed over to a notable of the Shar community over surety of Rs 500,000 on the orders of First Judicial Magistrate Shikarpur while Kifayatullah, nikah-khawan and Gul Mir, father of groom were handed over to Gaheja Police on three-day remand.

Habibullah Shar, groom was still at large and police has been conducting raids to nab the man.
The area police has registered a case against involved persons under section 3, 4 and 5 PPC at Gaheja Police Station.

Shahab Osto, a lawyer termed the nikah illegal and has no status according to Sindh Child Marriages Restraint-Act 2013 as child marriage stands a crime.
