Clearly drowned in thought process, Khursheed Shah confessed that he could only vaguely recall Panama Papers and couldn’t quite place them. Talking to journalists outside the Parliament House, Shah, who is the Opposition Leader in National Assembly, reassured his critics that he will locate the papers soon.
“It is incorrect that I don’t remember Panama Papers. I can vaguely recall them,” Shah said while addressing the media. “As things stand I might not be 100 per cent sure as to what the papers entailed and what our stance was, but I do clearly recall overwhelming success in achieving the goals of my party and myself.”
The PPP leader put the struggles of his memory down to the government policies. “There’s only so much one can retain,” he confessed. “There is so much cannon fodder that the PML-N government provides us, our job is to do the firing. I’m sure we rolled up the Panama Papers to fire the bullets to the government’s heart.”
The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly asserted that the very fact that the words ‘Panama Papers’ struck a chord means that it involves positive memories.
“I am a very happy person and PPP is a very happy party. We tend to focus on happy memories, and the years 2008 to 2013 were full of them. I’m sure it was a happy memory.”
But Shah claimed he was sure ‘the Panama Papers thing came up after 2013’. “It does feel more recent,” he concluded scratching his head.
