Man kills his sister for ‘honour’

LAHORE: A man shot dead his sister in the name of ‘honour’ in Manawan, while two government employees were killed in different road accidents across the city on Tuesday.

The deceased girl has been identified as Tasleem Kanwal alias Chanda, daughter of Nazir Ahmad and resident of Nabeel Town, Lakhodar, Manawan. Police said that Tasleem’s elder brother Raju was an addict who lived with his friends at some unknown place, where they frequently questioned the character of Raju’s sister. On the day of incident, the accused came back to his house. Tasleem tried to convince him to go away but in a fit of rage, the accused opened fire at his sister and escaped the scene.

Upon being informed, the family members took her to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Police has registered a case murder against the accused on the complaint of her father and shifted the dead body to city mortuary for autopsy.

Separately, two employees of City District Government Lahore and Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) died in different road accidents.

Moon Butt, a 20-year-old employee of CDGL, was on his way along with his wife and son on a bike when he collided with a donkey cart near a factory in Shahdra. As a result, Moon received a severe head injury while his wife and son remained out of danger. The injured was taken to a nearby hospital where he expired.

Meanwhile, 55-year-old Ghulam Nabi, an employee of LWMC was crossing main GT Road near Shalamar Garden when a speeding car hit him and managed to escape the scene. The injured was removed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police handed over the dead bodies to their family members after fulfilling the legal formalities.
