ISLAMABAD: A lower court of Islamabad on Wednesday granted pre-arrest bail to a central accused, Nauman Khokhar, held in the murder case of Barrister Fahad Malik, till August 27, while the police have failed so far to arrest the other accused, Raja Arshad, in the same case.
Additional Sessions Judge Islamabad, Farkhanda Shaheen, took up the plea filed by accused Nauman Khokhar (Nomi Khokhar), seeking interim bail in the murder case.
After hearing the arguments, the court accepted the pre-arrest bail of the accused against surety bonds worth Rs 200,000 and also directed the Shalimar Police Station, to produce the case record before the court on August 27.
Barrister Fahad Malik, who was the nephew of former chairman Senate, Muhammad Mian Soomro, died in an armed clash between two groups late on Sunday night. The firing incident took place in Islamabad’s Sector F-10 at a coffee shop, where, according to police, Raja Arshad and Malik Tariq’s group exchanged fire.
According to police, Barrister Fahad had mediated a written truce between Malik Tariq and the other group, however, after an altercation Raja Arshad opened fire on his vehicle.
The clash killed Fahad and left three others injured, including Malik Tariq, when the other party opened fire at their vehicle.
The postmortem report of slain Fahad Malik, said that the deceased had received six bullets and a bullet that hit his right cheek and crossed from his forehead, proved to be fatal. The report said that he was shot just from a distance of four to five feet from the right side.
Shalimar Police, on Monday night, registered a first information report relating to the murder of Barrister Fahad Malik, against five suspects, including Raja Arshad and Nauman Khokhar under relevant sections.
