Chief commissioner’s long absence creating troubles for Islooites

ISLAMABAD: The long absence of Chief Commissioner Islamabad from his office become source of money minting for the staff which has bent upon to take bribes from people through unfair means.

The people are in deep trouble due to continuous absence of Chief Commissioner Islamabad Zulfiqar Haider from his office and a corrupt mafia has occupied his office who is demanding bribe from the citizen for their legal work like property tax and other issues.

They also take money for issuing NOC to organize routine events on the daily basis in the city like public seminars, musical program, Naat Khawani etc.

According to the sources, Chief Commissioner use to come to office for half an hour after several days and the citizens came from Islamabad and its suburbs have to wait for whole day.

The sources said that Chief Commissioner is attending a training course at National Defense University from 8am to 2pm, which was commenced from August 8, and after attending the training he come to office for half an hour after the gap of two or three days.

While taking to Daily Times a resident of G/11-3 Muhammad Waqas said that he is visiting chief commissioners’ office since last one week over some issues regarding property tax. “To resolve my problem I have paid Rs 20,000 bribe on the name of PS Tariq and Muhammad Aslam but still my work is laying pending”, he added.

Muhammad Naveed Akhtar said that he wants to organize an expo at Fatima Jinnah Park to introduce solo light and for this purpose he needs a NOC from Chief Commissioner office, DCO office has already submitted the file but due to the absence of chief commissioner since last one and half week the file is still struck although the subordinate staff has already taken Rs 10,000 from him. He said that he has the record of this payment but now the person has disappeared from the scene who took money from him.

Another citizen Ramzan said that he needs licenses for a private security company, now the file is in the Chief Commissioner’s office as he already fulfilled all the legal requirements but due to absence of chief commissioner he is facing great hardships.

Mehtab Hussain told this scribe that he has some issue on a plot located in Chak Shahzad and an inquiry was given to assistant commissioner which was completed after the lapse of one and half month however, due the pending approval form chief commissioner, the case is still pending as he concerned AC told him that after the approval of Chief Commissioner final decision would be made in this regard.

The contact could not made with chief commissioner after various efforts while his personal staff officer Lubna said that chief commissioner is performing his official duties after 1:30 pm on daily basis and he have nothing to do with public dealing matters. Director General (Admin) Frasat has authority to deal with all these public issues except some important cases that need signature of chief commissioner.

The citizens demanded to impose ban on such training courses for the officials during duty hours to address their problems.
