RAWALPINDI: Main markets in Rawalpindi these days are crowded in the evening as the people visit marketplaces for Eid shopping. However, the people have expressed disappointment because of a sharp hike in prices of almost everything.
As Eid draws closer, the prices of cloths, artificial jewellery, shoes, makeup items, bangles and cosmetics have doubled.
People have complained that shopkeepers have increased prices by almost 60 percent ahead of Eidul Fitr.
“The businessmen have almost made it difficult for us to purchase anything for Eid,” a visitor to a commercial market in Rawalpindi said. He said shopkeepers had fixed the rates of most items and were reaping large profits. All the shops of Rawalpindi Bazaars have been decorated to attract customers.
