ISLAMABAD: A citizen had to pay a heavy price for lodging a complaint against Marvi Memon, MNA, for violation of traffic rules by her, amid the reports that the complainant was first locked up in a police station and was later released on the intervention of the SSP traffic. Well placed sources told Daily Times that MNA Marvi Memon’s vehicle broke the traffic signal on Embassy Road in the federal capital in blatant violation of traffic rules. A citizen lodged a complaint against this breach of traffic rules by the said influential MNA, asking the traffic police, to intercept her vehicle. Upon it ASI, Ziaullah, misbehaved with the citizen and scolded him publicly besides locking him along with his bike at Aabpara Police Station. This provoked the situation and the matter was brought to the notice of the SSP Traffic, Malik Matloob. He ordered for the immediate release of the citizen and summoned the ASI in his office and ordered for initiation of action against him. Countless complaints over manhandling and misbehaviour of police officers with the citizens have been received by the senior traffic police officers . The IG Islamabad, Arif Masood Yasin, has issued directives to the police to treat the citizens in a civilised manner. But these directives are not being implemented.
