Srinagar: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani strongly condemned the ongoing Indian brutalities on the innocent people of the occupied territory.
In a statement issued in Srinagar, Gilani disregarded the regret shown by an Indian Army officer on the recent cold-blooded murder of a 30-year-old lecturer at Khrew, Badgam.
He noted that this Army mockery of pacifying people through so-called probes in the aftermath of civilian killings had been going on for the past seven decades. The chairman also termed the army’s denial of being called to handle the ongoing uprising because “law and order were not its domain” as ridiculous and a big joke.
He then questioned, “What was the army doing in Khrew village in the dead of night, (breaking) the windowpanes of houses and subject(ing) the people to physical torture, which (had) resulted in the death of the young lecturer?”
He believed, “The army claims to be a disciplined force but for us, they are disciplined only in killings and know various lethal methods of snatching our precious lives.”
In his response to the critical injuries caused recently by the troops to an ambulance driver, Ghulam Muhammad, he noted that hospitals, ambulances and patients were always spared, even during times of war.
“But here we are facing a situation more pathetic and dangerous than the war, where hospitals, ambulances and patients are also targeted for the only one crime that they all want Azadi,” he deplored. Gilani also condemned the continued restarints on the political and religious activities of the pro-freedom leadership in the territory, further adding that he had not been allowed to offer Friday prayers, since 2010. It may be important to mention here that Syed Ali Gilani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq were also arrested by Indian police on Friday during their march towards Aaripanthan area of Badgam to pay tributes to four martyrs.
