The University of Management and Technology (UMT) has been shortlisted for ‘Workplace of the Year’ award category by Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia, 2020. THE Awards Asia 2020 explores how universities continue to innovate and help the world navigate an uncertain future and also offer a major international platform to recognise outstanding leadership and institutional performance. This event also offers a fantastic opportunity to winners to promote their institutions before a large international audience. The virtual awards ceremony will take place during the Live Asia event on Tuesday November 17, 2020, in Japan. The initiative undertaken by the Office of Human Resource (OHR) at the UMT has effectively aided employee engagement, resulting in an improvement in the quality of work, and a higher retention rate. To promote this sustained growth, the OHR introduced a system where potential successors within the faculty and staff were identified by OHR; the recruitment team was only assigned with headhunting. The OHR is committed to upholding diversity and equality by enforcing strict policies regarding discrimination in the workplace.

UMT President Ibrahim Hasan Murad has dedicated the achievement to the visionary leadership of Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad (Shaheed) whose dream was to lead UMT and bring it on a par with top international universities. He hoped that this milestone will set new dimensions for the students and staff to earn a cutting edge in competitive market.
