ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah said on Sunday that the people of IHK want complete freedom from Indian rule.

Khursheed Shah, in his statements, urged the United Nations to implement its resolutions on Kashmir. He said that the only way to maintain peace in Kashmir was to ensure implementation of resolutions relating to the Indian-held Kashmir.

“Kashmiris should be given the right to make decisions about their future based on a referendum,” said Shah. Shah also criticised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Singh Modi and charged him for speaking out against Pakistan regarding Kashmir, Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

“What Modi tried to do was to make Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan controversial,” he said. “Our public is united under the flag of Pakistan,” he stated. Khursheed Shah said that the people of Indian Held Kashmir wanted complete freedom from India. Through the use of violence and injustice, India was ruling over IHK, he said. Shah linked the issue of Kashmir to that of Palestine and said that without resolution of conflict in both places, sustainable peace in the world could not be attained.

“The world cannot enjoy sustainable peace until the issues of Kashmir and Palestine are not resolved,” he said. “There are some world powers who raise the slogan for peace time and again but when it comes to the injustices of Kashmir and Palestine, these world powers remain silent,” he further commented. Khursheed Shah said that PPP had always raised its voice for Kashmiris and stated that the solution lay in negotiations and not conflicts.
