Pakistan confirmed 4,896 more cases from novel coronavirus in one day as positive cases surged to 89,249.
According to the latest statistics by the National Command and Operation Center, the country recorded 68 deaths during the last 24 hours. A total of 1838 people have lost their lives to COVID-19 so far.
Around 22,812 tests have been carried out with the total number of tests performed across the country now standing at 638,323. The number of recovered patients also rose to 31,198.
There have been 33,536 cases in Sindh, 33144 in Punjab, 11,890 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 5,582 in Balochistan, 3,946 in Islamabad Capital Territory, 852 in Gilgit and 299 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 1,838 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 521 deaths, Sindh 575, Balochistan 53, Gilgit-Baltistan 12, Punjab 629, Azad Kashmir 07 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 41 deaths.
Moreover, Pakistan on Thursday topped the list of new coronavirus cases in the world, according to data compiled by the reference website Worldometer.
Notably, Russia confirmed 8,726 new coronavirus infections Friday, bringing the country’s official number of cases to 449,834.
Over the past 24 hours 144 people have died, bringing the total toll to 5,528 — a rate considerably lower than in many other countries hit hard by the pandemic.
A total of 8,057 people have recovered, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 212,680.
