DADU: The construction work on Hockey Stadium Dadu was stopped by assistant commissioner Dadu, Nazir Ahmed Soomro after visiting the site on Sunday over ongoing protests by students of Sindh University campus.
The students are staging protests against construction of Hockey stadium on the university campus’ plot for last two months as soon as construction work was started by sport department government of Sindh. Additional deputy commissioner Dadu-1, Syed Mohammad assured students to resolve this matter and appointed AC Dadu, Nazeer Soomro to start inquiry and stop the construction of Hockey stadium at plot of Sindh University campus Dadu.
Students said the university administration should increase facilities for students instead of building a hockey stadium and the allocated funds should be transferred to increasing faculties and more academic facilities. They viewed that owing to construction of hockey stadium, the drainage line and water supply lines of campus were damaged which were constructed with cost of 40 million rupees.
