The Covid-19 has made the situation worse at hospitals due to the poor planning of the Sindh government. The patients of other disease are suffering, as they are not being hospitalised or treated.

In accordance with the experienced Dr Azhar Chughtai, except a few, all the private hospitals are like post offices or check posts to know the address to reach because no one is permitted to be admitted.

“If anyone is suffering from other disease for them there is no place for them at metropolis hospitals,” he disclosed

Nowadays it seems that it is not in our policies to cure the cough, chest pain, asthma low and high blood pressure patients. He added

He revealed that in the past three month, the Sindh government and the Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) did not make no specific plans “B”, “C”, or guideline, it is certain that at the initial state of COVID-19, the government was mind bogglingly taking decision, but now the government despite the fact having capability is not seeking to do better, lamented Chughtai.

Dr Chughtai demanded that the expo centre of Karachi needs to be upgraded because from all the patients a few would be needing ventilators.

A private hospital receptionist was asked, “How many patients used to come at hospital every day (in the OPD) before this COVID-19?” She replied some two hundred to two hundred and fifty for various diseases.

She was asked that how many patients admitted. “We had an average of fifteen, sometimes sixteen and seventeen,” adding that the now number of patients are coming in serious condition and we are referring them to Govt Hospitals but hires are not willing to take them because they are afraid to be declared Covid-19 patients.

What is the situation now? “Now there are ten to fifteen patients in the OPD who are suffering from a serious illness and we do not have space to admit the patients.

Earlier an old age patient who was suffering from low blood pressure was taken to Liaquat National Hospital but he was refused due to shortage of bed. His son Adnan told that there is no bed in any big private hospital due to Covid-19 and other diseases patients suffering a lot.

An official from Dr Ziauddin Hospital told that an especial ward has been reserved for COVID-19, cases which has the capacity of 16 bed and they all are full adding that another space is also being prepared for the same.

While talking about charges he said that 60 to 80 thousand being charged for a day from corona patient.

Daily Times learnt that South City Hospital Karachi is charging One hundred thousand to One hundred fifty thousand from Covid-19 patients for a day.

On other hand the arrival of patients from different parts of Sindh and Balochistan to Karachi’s three major public hospitals has dropped to almost zero due to the lockdown and precautionary measures to contain the spread of coronavirus in spite of this Hospital across Karachi are facing a shortage of beds. Most of them are occupied by patients with COVID-19.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah has asked the Dow University’s Ojha Campus to convert their unit into a coronavirus isolation ward as well.

On account of the poor policy of Sindh government in a large number of common patients of chest pain, flu, light fiver and cough especially old people are also suspected as contagion coronavirus patients.

It is therefore, they are not treated as common patients. However, some of the patients are also afraid to be declared as Covid-19 patients.

People expect that the government have embezzled the billions of Rupees, now the people are being fed up due to not being provided with the appropriate system in hospital.
