153 children abducted in last five years in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: As many as 153 children were abducted during the last five years all over the district Rawalpindi and police have recovered 149 children while four are still untraceable.

According to statistics of the Rawalpindi district, 132 cases of kidnapping of children were registered in 30 police stations of the district during the period from January 2011 to July 2016. Overall 153 children were abducted in the jurisdiction of different police stations. They include 99 boys and 54 girls.

As per police station wise statistics of the Rawalpindi district, the maximum cases of kidnapping of children were registered at Police Station Baironi Sadar. Some 13 cases were registered at Airport Police Station, 10 at Sadiqabad Police Station, eight each at Waris Khan Police Station and RA Bazaar, seven each at Civil Lines Police Station and New Town Police Station, six cases each at Pirwadhai Police Station, Westridge Police Station, Ratta Amral Police Station and Nasirabad Police Station of Rawalpindi.

As many as five cases of kidnapping were registered at Taxila Police Station, four cases each at Kallar Syedan Police Station, Banni Police Station and Murree Police Station.

Three cases each were registered at police stations Chountra, Wah Cantt, Rawat, Race Course and Morgah and two cases each were registered at police station Kahuta and Sadar Wah Cantt. One case each was registered at the police station in Ganjmandi, Gujar Khan, Cantt and City.

It has been told to Daily Times that police paraded traditional slackness in registering the cases of banditry, robbery, pick-pocketing and burglaries and whenever any case was reported to the police about the kidnapping of a child, it advised the parents to wait or search for their children on their own.
