KMC approves establishing dept of disaster management

KARACHI: Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC) Administrator Laeeq Ahmed has given approval for establishing disaster management department in KMC.

The new department has been established by merging already existed rescue related sections/departments of KMC into one department, said a statement on Wednesday. Previously Director City Wardens, Chief Fire Officer, Team Leader USAR, Chief Security Officer, Incharge 1339 Complaints Cell, Incharge 1122 Ambulance were under the municipal commissioner, KMC Director Municipal Services, Director I.T and Director Medical & Health Services.

However, now the same officer of grade 19 or 20 will run the affairs of all these departments/sections of KMC while working as the director of disaster management department.
