MQM drama was staged to divert attention from Kashmir: Magsi

Author: Staff Report

HYDERABAD: Sindh Tarqi Pasand Party chairman Dr. Qadir Magsi has said that MQM’s drama staged in Karachi, including a hunger strike and attack on media houses was pre-planned and directed from the London head of MQM to divert attention of the world from the Kashmir situation where Kashmiris are fighting against Indian forces for self determination. Addressing a news conference here, Dr Magsi said it was aimed to give space to Indian premier Modi to raise the issue of Karachi to defame Pakistan.

Magsi said though his party supported Sindhi nationalism but they supported Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom. He said staging political turmoil in Karachi was not new as nothing happened in the wake of it. He said STPP has never accepted MQM as a political party because one man had made himself a master of a million lives. He exclaimed that though Altaf has raised anti Pakistan slogans and used abusive language against the heads of all government institutions but no action was taken against him. He said until the MQM was not banned, peace would not be restored in Karachi and no one would feel safe in the city.

Dr Qadir Magsi was of the view that every act was being staged at the behest of the establishment. He said if General Raheel continued operation against terrorists in Karachi “we are with him” and if he falls victim of political consideration like Nawaz Sharif and Zardari by not taking action against MQM then he may diminish his own stature. He hoped General Raheel would not join the line of Gen Zia (who created MQM), Gen. Mushraf (who nurtured them) and Zardari and Nawaz Sharif who extended political support to them.

Magsi ridiculed the establishment’s opinion that if MQM was touched it may take shape of Bukti Bahini to dismember Pakistan. He alleged that those sitting in the establishment were frontmen of Altaf. He said PM, CM and other ministers had issued statements condemning attacks on media houses but never raised their voices against thousands killed by MQM.
