Rule of law

Author: Daily Times

Sir: This refers to a news item in the Daily Times of 19th August 2016 captioned “Citizen pays price for complaint against Marvi”. The only fault of the poor citizen was that he complained to the police against violation of traffic rules by Marvi Memon, who is a member National Assembly (MNA).

The law-abiding citizen did not know that some bureaucrats, along with certain members of the legislative bodies and federal and provincial ministers think of themselves to be above the rule of law. They do no let anyone stop them, what to talk of reprimanding and penalising them. This, I think, is the reason why SSP Traffic Police, Malik Matloob did not take any action against the MNA, Marvi Memon.
