At least 190 participants of Youm-e-Ali (AS) processions in Karachi have been arrested for violating the government ban on all religious processions and congregations, Karachi police spokesperson Inspector Shazia Jehan said. A total of 39 FIRs were registered against the violators. According to an officer of South Zone police, 105 participants of a procession were arrested from their zone only.

The Sindh government has banned all religious gatherings, rallies and congregations during Ramazan in view of the Covid-19 outbreak.

MWM Sindh chapter secretary general Allama Baqir Abbas Zaidi in a statement strongly condemned the arrest of the processions’ participants, who he said were following the requisite SOPs. He demanded their immediate release.
