Singer Sonu Nigam has paid a special tribute to motherhood through his song “Maa”. For the song, he united with lyricist Sameer Anjaan and composer Raju Singh.

“It has been rightly said, God cannot be everywhere, so he created mothers and this song resonates the same essence,” Sonu said.

“When I first heard the lyrics of the song, it gave me goosebumps and reminded me of the profound times spent with my mother. Beautifully written by Sameer ji and composed by my best friend Raju Singh, the song has some very emotional lines and had an instant connect with the essence of motherhood,” he added.

The song celebrates the essence of motherhood, and is a heartwarming ode to mothers everywhere. The song has been released by Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) on occasion of Mother’s Day.

On the song, Anjaan said: “While writing this song, I took a stroll down memory lane and sought inspiration from my relationship with my mother. She has been my rock with her boundless support and unconditional love. I dedicate the lyrics of this song to her, and hope that it makes brings a smile on her face like she brings on mine every day.”

Mother’s Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. It is celebrated on various days in many parts of the world, most commonly in the months of March or May. It complements similar celebrations honouring family members, such as Father’s Day, Siblings Day, and Grandparents Day.

The modern Mother’s Day began in the United States, at the initiative of Anna Jarvis in the early 20th century. This is not related to the many traditional celebrations of mothers and motherhood that have existed throughout the world over thousands of years, such as the Greek cult to Cybele, Rhea the Great Mother of the Gods, the Roman festival of Hilaria, or the Christian Mothering Sunday celebration.

However, in some countries, Mother’s Day is still synonymous with these older traditions.

The U.S.-derived modern version of Mother’s Day has been criticized for having become too commercialized. Founder Jarvis herself regretted this commercialism and expressed views on how that was never her intention.

Sonu Nigam is an Indian playback singer, composer . He sings predominantly in Hindi and Kannada language films. He has also sung in English, Bengali, Odia, Manipuri, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Nepali, Maithili, Malayalam and various Indian languages.

Nigam has also released Indian pop albums and acted in a number of Hindi films.
