ISLAMABAD: The Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) has planned not to regularise daily wagers of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), sources said on Saturday. Despite clear instructions from the Public Accounts Committee, they said that State Minister for CAAD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhary had allegedly made regularisation of daily wagers a matter of ego and those employees who were waiting to join the regular cadre would be terminated from services on the pretext of written test and interview. They said the CADD did not purse the case regarding regularisation of daily wagers and that was why Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif accepted a proposal floated by the Finance Ministry to advertise in the media for holding a written test and interview once again for the FDE daily wagers. The CADD did not tell Prime Minister’s Secretariat that in case of the advertisement in the media in this regard, the government would commit contempt of court. Earlier, on the orders of the Islamabad High Court, a committee was formed under the chairmanship of Federal Public Service Commission secretary Haseeb Athar, which instructed the CADD to avoid taking steps that would violate any former precedence of regularisation of temporary employees. A committee earlier was also formed under the headship of Syed Khurshid Shah, which instructed the authorities concerned to regularise some 300 daily wagers but the CADD said the temporary staff would be regularised once the seats get vacant. Pertinent to mention here is that the CADD has completed medical tests of the daily wagers but now the CADD minister does not allegedly want daily wagers to join regular cadre. When this reporter contacted FDE, they said that they were ready to regularise those temporary employees who were declared fit in the medical test. However, they added that they were reluctant to do so as they had not received any orders by the CADD. PTI’s MNA Asad Umar has also written a letter to CADD Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhary requesting him to regularise the daily wagers.
