Epidemic dims festivity of Ramazan and Eid

The most beautiful season of the year is in full swing with clear skies, blooming flowers and new fresh leaves that foreshadows summer and means more outdoors walking and spending time outside, on nature. It is best time for meditation to forget about worries and just concentrate on blessing of the holy month.

Hence, this Ramazan is not like that it was always, we could not feel affection for this time of the year when families get together, new cloths are to be worn and special Iftar platters are held with verities of dishes. Now we are not wondering for what new we could do with the latest fashion flows and trends for upcoming Eid for making you look stylish on this Eid.

Ramazan is here but we are not happy. There is a deep grief in hearts, grief of losing loved ones, and grief of losing many precious lives because of epidemic of coronavirus that had gripped the world. It has not only halted all economic activities but also resulted in countless demises. Countless sudden demises, that means a profound sadness and fear at the same time.

So far many people have been died because of the disease and many are dying with every passing day and no one can predict about coming circumstances. Every passing day is adding more and more worries in everyone’s life. People are not just in a great fear but the adding misery is their financial crises. They are facing penury and deprivation as economic activity grinds to a halt due to lockdown. Now the locals do not have the means to cope with the situation.

Venders of edibles who are allowed to open their shops are saying that the people who were visiting markets are avoiding, there is no hustle and bustle at markets as it was in previous years on these days and they are hardly managing their bread and butter.

While majority of them associated with garments or other accessories are depressed because of the peak time for business but their shops are closed owing to lockdown.

On the other side, the inhabitants who rushed to the markets before Iftar for buying fruits cannot afford its high price, consequently, the roads and streets are giving deserted look. Now the majority of average income population have not much financial resources for spending on Eid preparations. The future is unexpected for everyone. Citizens are just passing their days with what they have and are hardly trying to bear expenses of two time meals.

Earlier, at the advent of Ramazan special Iftar platters were being arranged in mosques for needy people. This month was full of celebration and festivity as the Muslims immerse themselves in reading the Quran and Duas and spending maximum time doing Dhikr. The Muslims met five times a day in Mosques for prayers and trahvee.

Now the situation is opposite and most of them are preferring to offer prayers at homes and believe to stay at home, which also lessens cheerfulness for this month. “I am missing contentment of praying in mosque, we cannot feel this pleasure while praying at homes, but at the same time we cannot endangers lives” said a resident of the Capital.

While another was opined that the government rules for praying in mosques are good step but it is not practical, in many area we have not enough space in mosques so it better to stay at home.

The epidemic has stop all.it has forced educational institutions to stop all their educational activities at a time when they are developing new strategies for upcoming year. Therefore, we cannot enjoy cheerfulness of children while going and coming to school on cites streets as it was before. It was also learnt that the majority of parents have gone to their native villages after announcement of long holidays so there is no rush on city’s roads.

There is no religious fervor of Iftar platters for family and friends and neighbors now. There is no Iftar for needy people along roadsides that has also lessen festivity of the holy month. There is just a depression of losing loved ones besides pressure of bearing the burden of daily expenses so how can one wear new cloths and enjoy coming Eid with all its pleasures.
