Sir: Dengue has been rapidly increasing in various parts of the country, epically in Karachi. At least 38 dengue fever cases have been reported from Karachi in last week. A report shows the patients’ toll was 938 in the city since January 2016. In 2016, a total of 1,021 dengue fever cases had been reported in Sindh, out of which 938 were detected from Karachi.
Provincial governments have been making efforts to curb the deadly disease since past few years. Punjab government has made significant progress in this regard over the course of past few years. Similar efforts are needed on the part of Sindh government to address the problem at the earliest. Therefore, I would request the Sindh government to look into the matter seriously and provide hospitals with necessary facilities for the treatment of patients. Moreover, awareness campaigns should be run on the TV channels to avoid the disease.
