Mukka Chowk named after Liaquat Ali Khan

KARACHI: District Municipal Corporation (DMC), Karachi Central , has changed the name of Mukka Chowk, in Azizabad near Muttahida Quami Movement MQM’s headquarter 90 by renaming it after first Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan.

DMC notification DMC(C) DA/101/2016 of August 29, 2016 was issued by Fareeduddin, Administrator DMC(C). The roundabout, connecting Block 7 & 9, Azizabad, Federal B Area, is known as Mukka Chowk, symbolizing hand of Liaquat Ali Khan.

Earlier Deputy Commissioner Central in letter to Karachi Metropolitan Corporation suggested renaming of Mukka Chowk.

The move comes after posters and banners bearing pictures of MQM chief Altaf Hussain were removed by unknown persons from Azizabad and Mukka Chowk.
