Six ventilators at Benazir Hospital out of order

RAWALPINDI: Six ventilators are non-functional at Benazir Bhutto Hospital putting the lives of hundreds of patients at risk.

Sources said there were total 12 ventilators, out of which four were functional while six were out of order. The other two ventilators remained out of order most of the time, sources added. Around 3000 patients visit the hospital daily.

The government of Punjab has approved 40 ventilators but a delay in provision of the required equipment has further deteriorated the situation. Ventilator is a machine that is used to provide breathing support mechanically to patients who are unable to breathe normally or who are incapable of breathing sufficiently.
