LAHORE: The benefit cricket match for scorer, the late Abdul Hameed, will be organised later this year, on December 25, by the known cricket matches organiser, Amir Ilyas Butt.

The match will be played between Salman Khan XI and Amir Ilyas Butt XI at Shah Faisal cricket ground. “We will be giving Rs 2.5 million to the family of the late Hameed for the education of his children and welfare of the family,” said Amir while talking to APP here on Tuesday.

Hameed remained associated with Pakistan Cricket Board as a scorer for 27 years and he died last week due to heart attack. Amir re-counted the services of Hameed and said the best way to acknowledge his valuable contribution towards the promotion of cricket was to arrange a benefit match for his family.

He said the teams of benefit match and an organising committee will soon be announced.
