ISLAMABAD: The ministry of health has approved PC-1 to the tune of Rs 21 billion for the construction of a 500-bed cancer hospital in the federal capital.

Sources said that the ministry of health had evolved PC-1 amounting to Rs 21 billion in respect of the cancer hospital project in the federal capital in the light of a feasibility report. The ministry of health has formally approved it. The health ministry had issued a letter to the chairman CDA some time before for acquisition of land for the cancer hospital.

It was said in the letter that 20 to 25 acres land be provided in a suitable area for this hospital which should be within the access of the common man. The CDA has not replied in this regard so far. Sources said Rs 300 million had been allocated in the budget of the current fiscal year for the construction of the cancer hospital.

The feasibility study of the project has been worked out by MS Progressive Consultants through bidding.
