ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Sunday congratulated the nation over Pakistan’s brilliant victory in the ICC Champions Trophy final against India. The PM praised the entire team for playing extraordinarily; defeating the opponents with a heavy margin. “The players and team management deserve deep appreciation for their remarkable performance,” he said. Nawaz added that the cricket team had provided an excellent opportunity for the nation to rejoice in Ramazan. He expressed the confidence that Pakistan cricket team would continue to put in their best in all formats of the game in the days ahead. Separately, Pakistan People’s Party Champion Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also extended heartiest congratulations to the Pakistan team. In a message, he said that it had been proved yet again that whenever a task was taken into hands with national spirit and hard-work by Pakistanis, tremendous victory always embraced them in the end.
Bilawal eulogised the team, including captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Fakhar Zaman for displaying splendid game at the Oval. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also congratulated the cricket team and nation on defeating India. In a message, he said Pakistan players had written history by defeating traditional rivals India. “Young batsman Fakhar Zaman by scoring century has played an important role in victory of the country and raised the image of Pakistan.” He said the team displayed teamwork through unity and achieved a splendid success.
