PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, formally inaugurated the Social Health Protection Scheme of Sehat Sahulat Programme titled “Sehat Ka Insaf Card” Phase 2, an initiative of the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa here on Wednesday.
The programme will cover all the district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the total cost of the programme is Rs.5362.2 million while it will cover 50 per cent of the population of KP including 1.8 million households while one household will get free treatment in public and private hospitals up to Rs 5, 40,000.
Talking on the occasion the PTI Chairman Imran Khan said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province would be made a model province of Pakistan and the Sehat Insaf Card will provide free treatment to the poor people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He further said that the KP government spent Rs 150 million rupees on advertisements while the Punjab government had spent in one year around nine billion rupees. “The PTI motive is to strengthen human development and spend on human beings and strengthen institutions in the country”, Imran Khan added.
He added that the KP government took all efforts to improve the life standards of the poor people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that for the first time in the history of KP, hospitals were made autonomous and now they would make their own decisions to improve the quality of health service in hospitals as no one will interfere.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Perveez Khattak, said that the provincial government had passed more than one hundred bills from the provincial assembly and a whistle blower act would be passed soon to prevent corruption.
He informed that the KP government had made the institutions independent like the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department. The Medical Teaching Institution Act, the Right to Information (RTI) etc were implemented in the province to create facilities for the common people of the province.
Earlier the Secretary Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Abid Majeed, while giving a presentation on “Insaf Health Card Schemes” said that the schemes duration was for two years while its total cost was Rs.5362.2 million.
He added that in the first phase they started the project in Kohat, D.I.Khan, Malakand, and Chitral and after the success of the programme it was now extended to the whole province.
He further said that for the implementation of the programme the State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan was selected through a national competitive bidding as the insurance company initiated the enrollment of eligible beneficiaries for the programme.
He informed that around Rs.10.44 million people would benefit from the programme while those who had exceeded the amount would be provided special funds. Abid Majeed said that in the Health Insaf Card programme some amount would also be given to the district headquarter hospitals for improvement of health facilities as well to purchase equipment for the hospitals.
He added that the patients of Cancer, Hepatitis, HIV, and liver transplant treatment facilities would also be available to the patients.
He added that in the first phase of the programme KFW a German Bank supported him but now it was the project of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and all the funds were provided by the government.
