A battle with the unseen foe

The appalling coronavirus is caused by the microorganism Covid-19. It targets the body’s respiratory system. Symptoms may last for 14 days or longer. Up till now, it is a cureless disease without any vaccine. The coughs, sneezes of an infected person, touching the things they have touched or coming into contact with the path they have walked on are all means of the virus’ spread. Nevertheless, it propagates faster than any forest fire.

In this situation, a lockdown appears to be the sole method to curb this fatal virus. Places teeming with people like religious gatherings, schools, marriage halls, parks, markets, etc, are the epicenter of the virus, spread. Therefore, only a lockdown can help to evade such convocations and gatherings.

By continuing ourselves at home, we can remain protected from the many unidentified infected people roaming about freely. When all business and commercial activities are at a halt, people will be encouraged to quarantine themselves within their homes. Simply put, an austere lockdown is crucial to survival and indispensable.

In order to utilize time effectively during the lockdown, one must rely on the telecommunication facilities which enable employees to work from home without any hindrance and students to take online classes and continue their education with the same zeal and passion. For housewives and people with a lot of leisure time, adopting a hobby is an effective way for passing time pleasantly whether it be painting, stitching, writing or reading. Indoor games like carom board, scrabble, cards will also allow people to spend time vivaciously with their families. However, it is the demand of the current situation that we let ourselves be overwhelmed by the notion of brotherhood and set aside our selfish whims to safeguard ourselves, our dear ones and our countrymen.
