Punjab IG for paying special attention to recruitment and promotion policies

Punjab Police Inspector General Shoaib Dastgir on Wednesday chaired a session regarding permission of police officers for going into federal institutions and duration of their deputation in which suggestions presented by different officers were examined in details.

In the session, the IG Punjab said that for recruitment and promotion of able officials, special attention should be given to recruitment and promotion policies and it should be deliberated upon in accordance with the modern parameters, well educated, physically and mentally sound, energetic and fit officials should be preferentially recruited into police force who may perform their duties with respect to smart and community policing parameters and improve coordination between public and police. He further added regular promotion board sessions should be held so they timely promotion of Police officers on merit should be ensured.

He further added that officers and officials who were promoted to new ranks should be posted in different field formations including PC, Traffic, Training, Elite and other branches keeping in view the devised proportion so that the progress of any branch many not be interrupted. He further said that, policy of promotion of able officers and officials keeping in view merit and seniority should be continued on and promotion board sessions should be held in all ranges and districts regularly and into phases and there should be no delay in giving right of promotion to deserving officers and officials.

He moreover said that those officers who did not complete the ACRs of their subordinates till yet, they should be bound to complete the ACRs within 15 days. These views were expressed by him when he was addressing to officers and chairing a session of executive board at central police office today. In the session, matters related with transfer posting, recruitment policy and deputation of force came under detailed observation.

In the session, all additional IGs, DIGs and AIGs along with CCPO Lahore were present and also presented their suggestions and recommendations with respect to issues under discussion. In the session recruitment policy, matters of proportion of direct recruitment of Sub Inspectors and promotion of ASIs to Rank of Sub Inspectors came under discussion whereas after promotion, strategies of postings of officers and officials into different formations like Punjab constabulary, elite, traffic and other formations were also examined with details.
