PESHAWAR: JI Central Leader and former MNA Maulana Abdul Akbar Chitrali has demanded of the federal and provincial governments to announce a comprehensive financial package for the calamity-hit Chitral district. Addressing a news conference at the press club here on Thursday, Maulana Chitrali said that natural calamities and flashfloods badly destroyed the infrastructure in Chitral due to which the locals were confronting difficulties. He said that health and education facilities were also affected as most of the educational institutions and health facilities were damaged in the recent flash floods in the far-flung areas and the earthquake in Chitral. Criticising the incumbent federal and provincial governments for turning deaf ears towards the miseries of Chitrali people, he said despite making announcements of financial packages for the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure and destroyed homes of locals, no practical step was taken in this regard.
