NAVTTC notifies 200 assessors

Author:

National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) has notified around 200 assessors across the country to conduct assessment of the Competency Based Training (CBT), which is being piloted in 130 TVET institutes with the support of the TVET Reform Support Programme.

To encourage the notified CBT assessors, a certificate distribution ceremony was held here at a local hotel in which the Executive Director NAVTTC, Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema was the chief guest. The notification of the assessors is one of the milestones towards sustainable implementation of the CBT approach in Pakistan, Cheema said. He said that the introduction of competency based training courses is a paradigm shift in the TVET delivery, which the NAVTTC is currently spearheading. He further added that CBT is one of the innovative approaches to reduce unemployment ratio in the country.

Moreover, the CBT programme provides the basis for the implementation of the National Vocational Qualifications Framework (NVQF) at a national level, he said. Under this paradigm shift, the training programs are designed and delivered by adopting a systematic approach, focusing on better employability of the trainees with a strong link to the market. The duration of these new special training programmes ranges between 6-12 months.

On this occasion, Mr. Zulfiqar Cheema and renowned industrialists distributed certificates among the assessors. The executive director said that the quality training and qualified teachers/assessors are the key elements of successful TVET implementation in the country. He encouraged the notified assessors to perform their duties with utmost honesty and true zeal. He added that we are sending recommendations to improve pay packages of the instructors of technical institutes. Many renowned industrialists and heads of various institutes were present on the occasion.
