Edu Dept to monitor NGOs’ schools

Author: Staff Report

Karachi: Provincial Minister for Education & Literacy Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that Education Department Sindh will keep an eye on the performance of the government schools run by non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

While expressing his resentment over the use of sub standard building materials in the construction of the school and witnessing girls students getting education sitting on the floor, the Minister Education directed the Chief Engineer Education Works to complete the ongoing work as soon as possible and ordered that furniture should be provided to the students.

The minister was informed that before handing over the school to the NGO there were more than two thousand students in the school and now there were only 1000 students and number of girls’ students was dropping fast. The Minister Education directed Additional Secretary to find out the cause of drop out and try to cease it at all costs .

Jam Mehtab was surprised to learn that only six months ago the school building was renovated and now it was being renovated again. He was startled to see that a Private School was also being run in government schools’ premises. He directed the DO concerned to submit a detailed report in this regard.

Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, has also taken serious notice of stagnant rain water in government girls/boys school Korangi no 3, and has directed Additional Secretary Education to take action against the headmaster concerned.
