ANS of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ has uncovered a huge plot hole in the beloved comedy series. The comedy came to an end last year after 12 seasons, but fans are still loving it and rewatching the show with enthusiasm.

Thanks to re-watching the series, fans were able to spot a gap in something Leonard Hofstadter tells his future wife Penny in an early episode.

From the outset Leonard was clearly besotted with his neighbour Penny and tried to hide his smarts to try and win her over.

However, he would often use his self-deprecative sense of humour to bring a laugh out of the ‘Big Bang Theory’ favourite.

In season one, he invites Penny over to help choose a suit for the Cooper Hofstadter Polarization where he will deliver important speech about his scientific research.

As they’re going through his wardrobe the topic of his height comes up after Penny is less than happy with his clothing options.

She asks him: “Is this all your clothes?”

Leonard replies: “Yup, everything since the eighth grade. My last growth spurt.”

A cute joke indeed, but something does not add up as savvy viewers have found.

Moving forward to season eight in the episode, The Prom Equivalency, where the friends host their own prom night.

The Big Bang Theory gang were discussing what their own proms were like, with Leonard saying he had a growth spurt after his.

This does not add up with what he said in the first season because proms are usually held in the 12th grade of high school.

It could be a simple mistake on the part of the writers, or Leonard was lying to Penny in the first season.

It’s not the first time The Big Bang Theory has been caught out on a plot hole.

Whilst watching the film Gremlins in season 3, Sheldon (Jim Parsons) says: “This movie baffles me every time we watch it. The instructions are very clear. Don’t feed the gremlins after midnight. Don’t get the gremlins wet.”

But one fan took to an online forum to put the nerd in his place to highlight how incorrect his comments were.

They said: “This instruction is only for the care of a Mogwai, not gremlins

“Sheldon, of all characters, would not mistake Mogwais for Gremlins and he would know the exact wording of the instructions.”

Fans also spotted another plot hole in season one, episode 14, which involves Leonard and Sheldon’s Star Trek figures.

The Big Bang Theory is an American television sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom served as executive producers on the series, along with Steven Molaro. All three also served as head writers.

The show premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007 and concluded on May 16, 2019, having broadcast a total of 279 episodes over 12 seasons.

The show originally centred on five characters living in Pasadena, California: Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper, both physicists at Caltech, who share an apartment; Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall; and Leonard and Sheldon’s similarly geeky and socially awkward friends and co-workers, aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz and astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali.

Over time, supporting characters were promoted to starring roles, including neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler, microbiologist Bernadette Rostenkowski, physicist Leslie Winkle, and comic book store owner Stuart Bloom.

The show was filmed in front of a live audience and was produced by Warner Bros. Television and Chuck Lorre Productions. The Big Bang Theory received mixed reviews from critics throughout its first season, but reception was more favorable in the second and third seasons. Later seasons saw a return to a lukewarm reception, with the show being criticized for a decline in comedic quality. Despite the mixed reviews, seven seasons of the show have ranked within the top ten of the final television season ratings, ultimately reaching the no. 1 spot in its eleventh season. The show was nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series from 2011 to 2014 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series four times for Jim Parsons. In total, it won seven Emmy Awards from 46 nominations. Parsons also won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Comedy Series in 2011. The series also spawned a prequel series in 2017 based on Parsons’ character, Sheldon Cooper, named Young Sheldon, which also airs on CBS.
