Two new coronavirus positive cases were detected on Wednesday which include an engineer and a young 20-year son of an officer who himself was tested positive earlier. With the addition of these two cases the number of positive cases has jumped to 17 in Larkana. Credible sources claimed that both the cases are of local transmission. A team of doctors obtained 20 samples, which included 15 samples of entire family members of the engineer along with 5 samples of a known person of Larkana and his four family members.

On the other hand, out of eight quarantined people three have again been tested positive and five negative at the Quarantine Centre established at the Areeja Campus of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU). These sources said that five negative people have been allowed to go home and three positive cases have been shifted to Isolation Ward of the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) where the number of isolated cases has reached to six. The SMBBMU Quarantine Centre is now empty. Meanwhile, same teams of doctors also obtained 320 samples yesterday of Tabligi Jamat members isolated at Madani Masjid which were sent to Karachi through their local collection centre of a private hospital result of which is still awaited, sources added.

Other reliable sources revealed to this Scribe when asked as to why the tests are not being conducted at Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Khairpur, they alleged that when GIMS senior doctors’ team reached to obtain samples of 83 suspected cases at Areeja Campus few days ago at the very outset, they were not even offered tea by their host throughout the day. They said that when they were going back in the evening, one of the district health facilities officer of Larkana took out some money from his pocket and offered them to have lunch somewhere while going back to Khairpur and they politely but with dignity refused saying that we will have our food at our homes. These sources said no body arranged tea and lunch for them at that crucial time then how it could be expected that they will come again and work here. These sources further said that now entire work load will be on the CMCH Isolation Ward where 14-bed ICU has already been established in the Oncology Department along with ventilators and monitors.

Dr. Ershad Hussain Kazmi, CMCH Medical Superintendent confirmed that three positive cases have been shifted to Isolation Ward who were previously kept at Areeja Campus.
