A blame game has been started between political parties over inappropriate measures during the lockdown and rise of coronavirus cases in Sindh, and the people are suffering because of the tug of war.

A spanking controversy came to the forefront as the Sindh government put in order a draft ordinance – Sindh Covid-19 Emergency Relief Ordinance, 2020 – under Article 128 of the constitution that the Centre thought infringed its constitutional powers and jurisdictions.

According to sources, if the governor signs this bill, the PPP will take all credit as point-scoring between the Sindh government and the federal government is on peak, and politics remains one of the key considerations in decision making even in the time of such pandemic when circumstances are going beyond control.

The blame game was first seen when PTI leaders lashed out Sindh government of “incompetence” for not being able to control coronavirus cases in the province.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders held responsible PPP Sindh govt for the worst situation in Sindh, while criticizing the provincial government that the hasty decisions of the Sindh government are creating chaos and confusion.

Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda said that the government had failed to implement the lockdown adding that “If PPP can tackle so let us do”, he asserted

Earlier, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi had slammed the PPP over its lax attitude towards the province’s health sector.

Before this Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi, had said that after the 18th Amendment health is the responsibility of provincial governments, “No ventilator is available in hospitals in upper Sindh and only two isolation centres are established.” he informed

While Sindh govt thinks that human lives should be given priority over the economy. Murtaza Wahab said the federal government “should be ashamed for what you people have done and what you preach”

Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani alleged that the federal government instead of lending a helping hand, is creating obstacles.

Sindh information minister Nasir Hussain Shah said the Prime Minister has let them loose to become hurdles in Sindh government’s work.

What has the federal government done to contain the coronavirus?, asked Sindh Information Minister Nasir Shah.

During this tug of war people who are living in Sindh they are suffering a lot as both of political parties haven’t done anything on ground. The people are helping each other by themselves.

On other hand Karachiities said that we don’t have any concern with both political parties they are playing blame game to promote their politics and people have to suffer because of them.

People demand that if affected are in numbers in any area so it must be sealed because it is the only way to prevent the spread of the virus by sealing the areas.

A Housewife asked that Murtaza Wahab, who is the adviser to the CM keeps saying that the Sindh government cares for its people, now where is Sindh govt it has been 26 days but no one came to ask that how people are surviving what kind of care it is? she added

“Blame game would not serve purpose against Coronavirus, only coordination among the political parties and unity to control the outbreak of virus would help the Karachiities,” she said. In the current situation, the role of all the NGOs have been very proactive but govt has failed to deliver.

People want that factories which could implement guidelines should be allowed to work. The government is taking decisions without homework and then takes them back, “Industries are open in US and Europe”.

A social activist Tayyab Memon said that social distancing means a lockdown. A lockdown means only essential services remain open. This is economically tough, but tough choices have to be made. I think We have to save lives FIRST. This is what govts and citizens must promote.

“The Sindh chief minister has already gotten enough publicity. He should focus on serious work now”, said Memon

Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rahman said that his party backed the provincial government earlier, but every action could not be supported.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that country-wide lockdown should be extended for two more weeks in order to stop the spread of coronavirus.
