LAHORE: The Civil Society Network Pakistan (CSNP) on Friday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Mardan in which at least 13 people including two policemen and four lawyers were martyred.
An emergency meeting was called upon to condemn the incident. The participants of the meeting said that the attack in Mardan was another brutal act by terrorists, who are neither Muslims nor human beings, but are killers of humanity and human values.
The participants expressed their condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for salvation of the departed souls. They also prayed for the grant of courage to the affected families to bear their loss with fortitude.
CSNP President Abdullah Malik expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious innocent lives in the brutal attack. He demanded that those behind the attack should be brought to justice, adding that the provincial government must provide best medical facilities/treatment to the injured.
He said that the entire nation was committed to root out the menace of terrorism and extremism from the motherland with the support of armed forces, as Pakistan Army and its leadership was committed to eliminate the terrorists, their facilitators and financers from the face of the country. “It is the need of the hour that the nation stood against the terrorism under one flag with full commitment that they will work together being a one nation against terrorists and their facilitators,” he added.
He strongly condemned the federal government for not implementing the National Action Plan in true letter and spirit, adding that the government failed to fulfill its primary obligation, which was to protect the lives of common citizens. “We are surprised that the government only implemented eight points of NAP while rest of the points were UN attended. We ask the government about the killers, and don’t want mere lip serving on such grave issues. A massive campaign must be initiated against the federal government, as it is not taking any measure to provide security to the lawyers,” he suggested.
