Addressing a press conference here in Faisalabad on an inquiry report by FIA into sugar and wheat crises, the PTI leader said the report should not have been made public before April 25 since it is not complete so far. “FIA report is incomplete and hence it should not have been made public before April 25,” he said, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan is being ‘misguided’ by a few people about the issue. “I request PM Imran Khan to himself read this report critically,” he suggested, adding that sugar subsidy is given by many countries in the world.
Raja Riaz said some elements are ‘jealous’ of Jahangir Tareen due to his influence in the party. “This is why they are doing propaganda against Tareen,” he said.
It is worth mentioning here that the inquiry report has named PTI stalwart Jahangir Tareen and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Khusro Bakhtiar among a number of people who reportedly benefitted from the crisis.
To a question, Raja Riaz said he will discuss the report with the prime minister ‘in private’. “Parliamentary meeting is not being held, thus I haven’t met PM recently,” he said to another question.
