Plea seeking cancellation of MQM registration dismissed

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has rejected a petition seeking cancellation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) registration in the aftermath of anti-Pakistan speeches and raising slogans against the country by its chief Altaf Hussain. Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan and all four members of the commission took up the petition for hearing on Monday. The ECP rejected the petition being not persuaded. Iqbal Hazarvi, the petitioner did not appear before the ECP; therefore, the ECP dismissed the petition being not persuaded.
